Dear Members of the Class of 2021:

Congratulations on your admission to Harvard College and a warm welcome from the Freshman Dean’s Office (FDO)! We write with a few announcements:

You have been subscribed to the 2021 class email list, an administrative listserv used to inform you of important University events, deadlines, and policies throughout the summer and during your freshman year. As soon as you set up your @college email account, we will add it to the list and remove your personal email address. During this transition time, however, please check both accounts.

Important Deadlines
As you prepare for matriculation in August, there are a number of important deadlines to which you should pay close attention. Some highlights include:

Housing Questionnaire, ID Photo, and Advising Form
  • The housing questionnaire is now available online; FDO staff use this form to create rooming groups and entryways. Please start the housing questionnaire process immediately by first claiming your HarvardKey.
  • As a part of the housing questionnaire, you will be asked to upload a passport-style photo that will serve as your Harvard ID photo. Photos are approved through the Harvard ID Services Office and may not be cleared right away if they do not follow the specifications indicated.
  • We also ask that you complete the advising information form at the end of the housing questionnaire. The Advising Programs Office (APO) uses this to match you with your academic adviser and Peer Advising Fellow.
  • The deadline for these forms and the ID photo upload is Friday, May 26, 2017.
Accessible Housing
Students who anticipate needing disability- or health-related services for housing, academics, and campus activities are encouraged to submit appropriate documentation to the Accessible Education Office (AEO) as soon as possible.

Pre-Orientation Programs
Now that you have accepted your spot at the College, please consider participating in one of our five pre-orientation programs, each of which has a specific activity and theme. Doing a pre-orientation program will give you the chance to make friends before the school year starts, meet upperclassmen, get advice about Harvard, learn about the campus and surrounding area, and have fun! While these programs are optional, over half of each freshman class typically participates. Please register or submit your application as soon as possible; most deadlines are Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

Freshman Register
The Class of 2021 Freshman Register is a hardbound yearbook that includes photos of your classmates, as well as secondary school and hometown information. The Register is the only tangible historical record that captures your entry into Harvard as a freshman. Be remembered as a member of the Class of 2021 by submitting your Freshman Register information form by Friday, May 26, 2017.

We are making plans now for Opening Days in late August and expect to greet you with a full slate of interesting and supportive activities. Meantime, please let us know if we can be helpful in your transition to the College.
