Information for First-Year Family Weekend

Dear Members of the Class of 2022:
We are excited to share with you some information about First-Year Family Weekend, scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, November 2 and 3. This event is an annual Harvard tradition, when parents, mentors, extended families, and local host families are invited to campus to spend time with you and experience a glimpse of your life at Harvard.
Schedule of Events
The full schedule of events is available on the Parent and Family Programs website. Activities are designed to help families become more familiar with Harvard, and are open to all, including students, regardless of whether families attend. These inclusive events showcase some of the unique aspects of the Harvard community:
  • Open Houses at the Harvard Museums on Friday and Saturday
  • Keynote address “The Polarization of America: Can We Bridge the Divide?" with IOP Fellow and former Congressman from Nevada, The Hon. Joseph J. Heck, on Friday at 2:15 pm in Science Center, Lecture Hall C
  • Class of 2022 Tailgate on Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Gordon Indoor Track, where students and guests will be seated by Yard
  • Harvard Football versus Columbia on Saturday at 12:00 pm
  • Intramural Spelling Bee on Saturday at 4:30 pm in Fong Auditorium, Boylston Hall
Check-in and Parking
Families will receive a printed schedule, campus map, and family button(s), and can purchase football tickets when they check-in at the Welcome Center and Lounge, which is open:
  • Friday: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Cambridge Queen’s Head Pub in Memorial Hall
  • Saturday: 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Memorial Hall transept
Free parking is available from 5:00 pm Thursday, November 1, to 10:00 am Sunday, November 4 at the 52 Oxford Street garage. Upon arrival at the garage, notify the Parking Services monitor you are attending First-Year Family Weekend.

Attending Classes
Your guests may be interested in attending a class for a glimpse of Harvard academics. We suggest they attend one of the open courses or other activities on the schedule, which will be available at the Welcome Center and Lounge on Friday and Saturday.
